| Team Building - Beach Bonanza |

(Download a Brochure)
Building strong group bonds and a sense of
team accomplishment while having a blast
is what Beach Bonanza is all about. Teams
are created during fun, and sometimes eye-opening
icebreaker exercises, and a briefing is held
by our staff with each team to explain all
the rules and safety regulations. Then the
games begin under the supervision of our
uniformed referees ready to call all the
action and keep all the scores. (Okay, we
know you're not athletes from the Olympics,
but on the beach, wits are more important
than brawn.)
You will be amazed as the competitive
team
spirit builds with each event.
The scoring
is structured such that the outcome
is usually
not decided until the last event
is complete.
A tie breaker system is instituted
for tie
situations.

Each event fosters teamwork, communication,
and creativity rather than just physical
ability. The Bonanza begin with an opening
ceremony consisting of a few ice-breaking
games that will eventually lead to the development
of teams within the Bonanza.
ICEBREAKERS
- The Dot Race aka "The Inquisition" - Participants stand on a large circle of
numbered dots, and one person is chosen to
be the first Inquisitioner. Participants
race around the circle based on questions
asked by the Inquisitioner, and the person
left standing, after all the abandoned dots
are re-filled, gets to be the new Inquisitioner.
This exercise helps participants recognize
the other members of their team as individuals.
- Like Falling Off a Log - Participants are asked to stand on a log
single file. They then must rearrange themselves
in the order of their birthday without falling
off the log. This exercise helps participants
identify the true leaders of their group.
EXERCISES
Some exercises require agility, some athleticism,
and some are better performed by using your
head.
- Beach Basketball - Player wearing blacked out snorkel mask
tosses small beach balls toward a large basket
suspended by strings being held by teammates.
Coconut Bowling - Large hula-hoops are place on the ground
and coconuts are rolled from a distance and
must stop inside hoops without knocking over
bottles placed at the back of each hula-hoop.
- Coconut Croquet - Coconuts are hung from a nylon sock hanging
around the participant's waist and must be
swung back and forth to hit additional coconuts
along the ground through a series of bottle
flags.
- Hula Hoop Curling - Hula-hoops are skillfully rolled along
ground and must fall around clusters of bottles.
- Delicate Balance - Participants are aligned balancing on
logs placed parallel with logs aligned with
other teams. Each team member holds a rope
connected to at least one person from another
team. Teams are encouraged to balance on
their own logs while trying to unbalance
members of the other teams.
- Bucket Brigade - Team members are asked to fill a 5-gallon
bucket with ocean water using only a cup
with holes.
Obstacle Course - This course is like a "dizzy-bat-race,"
mini-golf, and a crossword puzzle all rolled
into one.
- Coco-NUTS - Teams organize themselves into circles
and race to see which team can make a coconut
travel from person to person around the entire
group the fastest. Of course, a few obstacles
are thrown in along the way.
- Dot Circuits - Team members must touch a series of numbers
placed randomly on the sand in order from
least to greatest.
- Sand Skis - Teams must race on long skis as a team
in order to cross the finish line first.
At the conclusion of the final exercise,
the teams are recombined to form one group
again, and they are asked to go back through
each exercise again (with two to three times
as many people on the team,) IN 1/2 THE TIME!
Once the team members start thinking "outside
the box," the exercises take on a whole
new light.
CLOSING Ceremony
The event concludes with an awards ceremony
that recaptures just a few of the funny moments
from the day.
