Kiewit Corporation closed out its intern presentation program with a Build-A-Bike® team event at Kiewit University in Omaha, Nebraska. The interns had spent the summer developing public speaking and presentation skills. Managers evaluated them that same day before the team event began. 65 interns and managers then competed through challenges, assembled 11 bicycles, and donated them to Completely KIDS.
Kiewit Corporation is one of the largest construction, engineering, and mining companies in North America. Headquartered in Omaha since 1884, the company operates across the United States and Canada. Kiewit University is their internal learning and development center — where intern programs, leadership training, and professional development take shape.
Kiewit Interns and Managers Build 11 Bikes for Completely KIDS After Summer Presentation Program at Build-A-Bike® Team Event in Omaha
The program was built around public speaking and presentation skills. That same day, the interns presented in front of their managers and were formally evaluated. The team event came after — a celebration for a class that had earned it.
During the intern Build-A-Bike® team event, 65 participants divided into 11 teams and built 11 bikes. Each team completed challenges to win parts, trying to put their bikes together as quickly as they could. All 11 went to Completely KIDS, an Omaha organization that serves children and families in the community.
Finishing the summer with 11 bikes going to local kids is a different kind of story. The presentation program gave the interns skills to carry into their careers. The Build-A-Bike® gave them an afternoon that meant something beyond the office.
