PenFed Credit Union Build-A-Bike® Event in McLean, Virginia

PenFed Credit Union participated in a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event in McLean, Virginia. With thirty-five participants representing various teams within the organization, this standalone event was designed a dual purpose. That’s of trengthening team bonds and giving back to the community. The gathering brought together employees who work in different arrangements—some remote, some hybrid—creating an opportunity for colleagues who were previously unfamiliar with each other to connect. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and enjoyment as teams collaborated to build bicycles for donation.

PenFed Credit Union Employees Connect Through Build-A-Bike® Event in McLean, Virginia
The Build-A-Bike® event created a meaningful opportunity for PenFed employees across different teams to strengthen connections in person. For an organization with many remote and hybrid workers, this in-person gathering allowed team members to engage face-to-face. In fact, some were meeting in person for the very first time! The collaborative nature of the activities fostered communication and teamwork among participants who might not typically interact in their day-to-day roles.
Throughout the event, the room filled with laughter and positive energy as teams worked together to assemble bicycles. The spirit of camaraderie reflected PenFed’s commitment to not just serving their members but also nurturing their own internal community. By combining team building with charitable giving through their own PenFed Foundation, the event embodied the organization’s mission of helping others realize their potential—both within their team and in the broader community they serve.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to PenFed Credit Union for their generous donation through the Build-A-Bike® event. We would also like to express our gratitude to the PenFed Foundation. Their continued commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others won’t go unnoticed.
