Winston School Teachers aMAZEing Builders in San Antonio, TX

Fifty Winston School San Antonio teachers joined an aMAZEing Builders team building event before the start of the school year. Seven teams filled 21 backpacks with school supplies for Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. The backpacks support siblings of children receiving medical care at facilities in the area.

The Winston School San Antonio is a K-12 school serving students in San Antonio, Texas. Before the new school year began, the entire teaching staff gathered on campus. Students hadn’t returned yet, and this gave teachers time to connect as a team.

50 Winston School Teachers Build 21 Backpacks for Ronald McDonald House at aMAZEing Builders Event in San Antonio, Texas

The event began with a communication workshop. Staff explored four key topics: engaging with energy, valuing others’ opinions, asking better questions, and offering strength-centered compliments. Each topic set the stage for stronger teamwork in the year ahead.

After the workshop, the group launched into the Amazing Builders activity. Seven teams competed to collect backpacks and fill them with school supplies. The competition brought focus and energy to the room. By the end, the teams had assembled 21 fully packed backpacks for donation.

Lori from Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio came on site to accept the donation. She described the work RMHC does in the San Antonio community. RMHC provides housing for families who travel to the city for a child’s medical care. This keeps families together during difficult medical stays. The donated backpacks go to siblings of patients. These children can use the supplies to keep up with schoolwork while their family is away from home. For a room full of educators, that mission hit close to home.

The afternoon closed with a compliment activity. Staff members shared kind words with colleagues they may not often work with. The exercise created new bonds across the team and brought the day to a warm finish.
