Reindeer Logistics Hosts Creating a Team Culture Training in Carmel, IN

Reindeer Logistics built a week-long directors-and-above meeting around a major transition: the unveiling of the company’s new values and logo. Doug Staneart of The Leaders Institute led a Creating a Team Culture training day for 14 senior leaders in Carmel, Indiana. The session covered communication skills, listening skills, and group problem-solving challenges.

Reindeer Logistics is a freight brokerage and logistics company based in Carmel, Indiana. The company coordinates freight and vehicle transportation for customers across the country. Its senior leadership team is responsible for keeping that network running day-to-day. This particular week, the team’s focus shifted inward. Directors and above gathered for a multi-day meeting introducing the company’s refreshed identity and aligning around a new set of values. The leadership day served as the practical, hands-on piece of that rollout.

The Creating a Team Culture day started with communication and listening skills. The 14 senior leaders worked through exercises that surface how teams actually exchange information. The exercises also showed where those exchanges tend to break down. This groundwork mattered before the afternoon session. Group problem-solving challenges were coming next, and they would require putting the morning’s lessons to work under real pressure. Doug Staneart built the day so one skill set fed directly into the next. Leaders left the morning with tools they would use again within hours, not just concepts to file away.

The group responded well. Leaders who had spent the morning working on communication skills spent the afternoon using them. The group problem-solving challenges gave them a reason to apply active listening and clearer communication in real time, rather than as an abstract idea. The feedback after the event was strong. For a leadership team in the middle of a transition, that kind of shared experience carries weight. A new logo introduces a company’s new face to the world. A day like this helps make sure the leadership team behind that new face is aligned on how they actually want to operate together.

Reindeer Logistics ties much of its community work to Move For Hunger. The hunger-relief nonprofit the company partners with to donate meals based on customer engagement. The leadership day carried that same spirit of giving back into the way these leaders treat each other and their teams. We’d like to thank Reindeer Logistics and their leadership team for making this part of their transition week, and for the work they do year-round with Move For Hunger.
