Liberty Bank hosted a charity bike-building team event in Montville, Connecticut, on Oct. 26, 2026. Roughly 800 employees gathered at Mohegan Sun for the bank’s annual All-Hands Meeting. It was the fourth year in a row that Liberty Bank added Build-A-Bike® to the meeting. The teams built 100 brand-new bicycles for children served by Boys & Girls Clubs across Connecticut. Young members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford joined the room to see the gift firsthand.
Founded in 1825, Liberty Bank is one of the oldest and largest mutual banks in the United States. It offers a full suite of personal and business banking services in Connecticut. Its employees live out the motto “Be Community Kind.”
Liberty Bank Employees Build 100 Bikes for Kids in Montville, Connecticut
The afternoon session began with a keynote from Sam Goodwin. He spoke about resilience, gratitude, and human connection. Then, the room shifted from listening to doing. The group split into 100 teams for Build-A-Bike®. Five facilitators from The Leaders Institute ran the event, with Amy Maybury in the lead. This year, Liberty Bank created its own challenge sets for the teams. That twist gave returning employees something new to solve. Everybody came in excited to take on the fresh puzzles.
Each team solved clues and challenges to earn bike parts. Once a team had every part, it assembled a brand-new bicycle. With 800 people working at once, the room was full of energy. By the end of the session, the teams had built all 100 bikes. Young members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford were there for the finish. They got to see the bikes and meet the people who built them. Since 2023, Liberty Bank teams have built 488 bikes for Connecticut kids.
The bikes will go to children served by Boys & Girls Clubs across Connecticut. Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford traces its roots to 1880, when the Good Will Club opened in the city. Today, its clubs help young people reach their full potential. We’d like to thank Audra Hamel, Maggie Fitter, and the entire Liberty Bank team for their continued trust. We’d also like to thank Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford for the work it does for local kids.
