GE Vernova hosted a leadership bike build in Schenectady, New York, on Oct. 20, 2026. Thirty-four manufacturing leaders from around the world gathered at the company’s Schenectady site on River Road. The morning session kicked off a two-day leadership meeting. The meeting focused on the company’s leadership process and better ways to share it with teams. The group built six bikes for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady.
GE Vernova is a publicly traded energy company that spun off from General Electric in April 2024. It makes and services power generation equipment, wind turbines, and grid solutions in more than 100 countries. Schenectady, New York, is one of its major manufacturing sites.
GE Vernova Leaders Build Bikes and Better Processes in Schenectady, New York
Rebecca Rivas led the group through Build-A-Bike®. The leaders split into six teams. Each team worked through challenges to earn bike parts, then assembled a bicycle. The activity tied right into the meeting’s bigger goal. Leaders walked through the company’s leadership process. They also explored new ways to demonstrate that process to their own teams.
As they built, the teams talked about what they could do differently. They discussed how the process could be improved. Leaders from different sites shared their perspectives and brought ideas together. By the end, the teams had built six bikes. They also had fresh ideas to carry into the rest of the two-day meeting.
The six bikes will go to kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady. Felix Perez came to accept the donation and spoke to the group. The organization runs four clubhouses and after-school programs in eight Schenectady City Schools. We’d like to thank Karry LaForest and the GE Vernova team for having us. We’d also like to thank the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady for the work it does for local kids.
