After completing a leadership workshop called “Own Your Job,” the group assembled backpacks for children in need. It was a perfect blend of personal growth, teamwork, and giving back.

At their leadership retreat, GIS Benefits celebrated excellence with more than just luxury. They kicked off the event with “Own Your Job,” a leadership module focused on responsibility and empowerment. Then, the team transitioned into the Amazing Builders activity. Twenty leaders teamed up to race through indoor challenges and earn school supplies. Each task tested their ability to communicate, adapt, and support one another.
By the end, the group had assembled nine fully stocked backpacks for underserved children in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The donation was coordinated through East Cooper Community Outreach, a local organization that supports families in need. Knowing the backpacks would directly benefit children added meaning to every challenge. The activity gave participants a chance to reflect, contribute, and connect with a purpose beyond the workplace.
