With forty participants from three different locations, the event aimed to unite team members who rarely have the opportunity to work together in person. The gathering took place at their Discovery facility, where the initially reserved group transformed into an energetic and collaborative team throughout the day.
Proteor is a global leader in orthopedic fitting, renowned worldwide for their expertise in prosthetics and orthotics. The company operates through two main channels: a network of fitting centers strategically located near medical facilities to serve patients directly, and a manufacturing division that designs and produces components for prostheses, limb orthoses, and spinal orthoses for orthopedic professionals. The Build-A-Bike® event proved to be transformative for the Proteor team. Despite initial hesitation from the engineering-focused group, the activities sparked unexpected enthusiasm and engagement. What began as a quiet gathering soon evolved into a lively collaboration, with participants breaking out of their shells and forming connections across departmental lines. The event organizers, LT and Chloe, witnessed their team exceed expectations as barriers between the three locations dissolved through shared challenges and achievements.
Throughout the event, teams worked together to assemble bicycles that would later benefit local children in need. The transformation was remarkable—from reserved engineers to enthusiastic participants, the group’s energy levels soared as they tackled the bike-building challenges. Their technical expertise, combined with newfound collaborative spirit, resulted in quality-built bicycles for donation. The event successfully brought together Proteor’s distributed workforce, creating lasting bonds while making a meaningful impact in the Irvine community.
