Tricor Build-A-Bike® Team Building Event in Washington, D.C

The Tricor team gathered on October 4, 2025, for their annual company event. Taking place in Washington D.C., with fifty-two employees—nearly the entire organization—participating, the day aimed to strengthen teamwork and deepen understanding through a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event. Originally designed as a Creating a Team Culture (CTC) and Build-A-Bike® combo, time constraints condensed the program into a two-hour session. The event included an engaging temperaments group activity to incorporate CTC’s lessons on communication and collaboration.

The event began with a lively “Convo Stack” exercise, followed by participants sorting themselves into groups based on their temperaments. They explored the characteristics of each and discussed how a blend of all four creates the “secret sauce” for a powerful team. Afterwards, teams competed in cheer contests and challenges that filled the room with energy and laughter.

After that began the bike building section. While the construction of the bike and brakes certainly presented challenges, it was through those challenges that the team grew even stronger. Putting into practice all the team learned from the first portion of the evening, through communication and understanding, Tricor ended the day with 10 beautiful bikes.

Communities In Schools of the Nation’s Capital received the donated bicycles. Rustin arrived early to thank the team and introduced a school partner who shared the donation’s impact.

We thank Tricor for their generosity and Communities In Schools for empowering youth through their dedication.
