The City of Miami brought together leaders from across departments for a day of leadership development and giving back to their community! Designed to build stronger communication and collaboration within the city government, the day combined learning with laughter.
We started the day with modules from our High Impact Leaders leadership development program. Participants probably thought that the first part of the day would be a lecture. But within the first 10 minutes of the program starting, the group was up and interacting with — learning more about — their coworkers. The program engaged them using hands-on activities that encouraged connection, creativity, and a fresh approach to teamwork. By the end, every leader walked away with new insights and a great sense of accomplishment.
The City of Miami’s leadership team drives the community forward, managing public works, housing, and neighborhood services across the city. Their shared goal is to keep Miami efficient while building a vibrant, inclusive culture for residents and employees alike.
City of Miami Government Leaders Connect Through Build-A-Bike Combo Event in Miami Beach, Florida
The City capped off the day with a fun Build-A-Bike ® team charity activity that got everyone on their feet and thinking fast. Friendly competition broke the ice and sparked a genuine connection between leaders who don’t always get the chance to work side by side. Laughter filled the room as teams tackled creative problem-solving exercises designed to highlight collaboration under pressure. By the time the bike-building portion began, the group’s energy was through the roof.
Teams raced to earn bike parts by completing mental and physical challenges, cheering each other on every step of the way. The atmosphere was electric as the final bikes came together, proof that a little teamwork can create something amazing. When the group learned the bikes would go to children supported by The Lotus House, the room burst into applause. The Lotus House offers housing, resources, and hope for women, youth, and children, and this donation expanded their impact.
We’re deeply grateful to the City of Miami leaders for bringing such passion and heart to this event. And a special thank you to The Lotus House for the incredible work they do every day for families across South Florida.
