Western Municipal Water District brought 190 employees together for a Creating a Team Culture and Build-A-Bike® combo event in Riverside, California. Many participants were meeting their coworkers in person for the very first time. The day was designed to give the group both the tools and experiences they needed to work better together. By the end of the program, teams had assembled bicycles donated to the Boys and Girls Club Perris Clubhouse.
Western Municipal Water District is a public water agency in western Riverside County. The district provides reliable, safe drinking water and wastewater services to local communities. The district operates around the clock, seven days a week, and maintains a long-term commitment to water quality, infrastructure development, and sustainable resource management. Western has served the Inland Empire for decades. The district continues to invest in projects that support the region’s growing water needs.
WMWD Brings 190 Employees Together for Team Building Combo Event in Riverside, California
On June 24, the Western Municipal Water Department brought 190 members to participate in a combination of team-building programs in Riverside, CA. Many of the members were meeting for the first time at the event. The day was designed for the team to gain both the tools and experience to work together. By pushing through the initial awkwardness and working together, the team successfully built and donated multiple bikes to the Boys and Girls Club Perris Clubhouse.
WMWD Members Work Together During Joint Team Building Event
The group began with the Creating a Team Culture activity to break the ice. Participants worked through activities and discussions that helped them understand how their teammates communicate, make decisions, and approach their work. For a group spread across different departments and locations, that kind of shared context changes everything about how they show up for each other.
After the workshop wrapped up, they moved straight into the Build-A-Bike® activity. The energy shift was palpable. Teams that had just spent the morning building a communication foundation now had to put it to use in real time. The enthusiasm in the room was exactly what you want to see with a group this size. Throughout the afternoon, the bonds the group built in the workshop showed up on the floor. Teams moved faster, communicated more clearly, and had a noticeably better time because of it.
At the close of the program, the completed bicycles went to the Boys and Girls Club Perris Clubhouse in Perris, California. The Boys & Girls Club provides youth in Riverside County with a safe space, academic support, and character development programs. Their mission is to help young people thrive.
