The entire warehouse crew at a PepsiCo distribution center came together for a Hopeful Horizons combo event in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Sept. 25. The event capped off the team’s employee appreciation week. The 21-person group spent the morning on trust and communication, then closed the day by filling charity packs for teens in the foster system, donated to Dallas CASA.

PepsiCo Warehouse Crew Closes Out Appreciation Week by Giving Back
Our instructor opened the day by addressing the importance of building trust and the different communication styles at play across the crew. The team then worked through the leadership principles they could put into practice to build that trust. An interactive activity drove home how communication has to go both ways.
The afternoon shifted into the Hopeful Horizons activity itself, which drew attention to the generational gaps on the team. Each generation competed as its own team through a series of activities designed to show off their strengths and expose their blind spots. The friendly competition culminated in the group filling charity packs for teens in the foster system.
Those packs went to Dallas CASA. They recruit and train community volunteer advocates for children in the protective care system. They also serve the largest population of any CASA program in the nationwide network. Charity representative Elaine accepted the donation and spoke to the group about the struggles teens in foster care face. Struggles that are often the small, everyday things most people take for granted, which made the thoughtfulness behind this particular donation land even harder.
