Confluent gathered for a Build-A-Bike® team building offsite in Mountain View, California. Thirty members of the global sales team came together with their business partners at Confluent’s offices. The group was wrapping up a week-long onsite meeting. They brought plenty of competitive energy to the program. By the end of the event, teams had assembled five bicycles for children in the autism community through Joshua’s Gift.

Confluent’s Sales Team Wraps Up with a Team Building Offsite in Mountain View, California

After a full week of meetings, the group arrived ready to do something with their hands. Teams jumped in fast. Participants worked quickly, passed parts with purpose, and kept a close eye on the other tables. Early in the program, every team focused on one thing: finishing first.

As the bikes started taking shape, that focus began to change. Teams that had been racing against each other started offering help instead. Tools moved across tables. People shared tips. By the end of the program, the group was pulling together rather than competing. That shift from competition to collaboration made the whole event stand out.

The five completed bikes went to Joshua’s Gift, a nonprofit founded by Mizpah Brown-Rich. The organization provides bikes to children in the autism community to support motor skills and physical development. Mizpah joined the group in person to accept the donation and share the story behind Joshua’s Gift. She talked about her own son’s experience and how it first inspired her to build the organization. Her presence added a layer of meaning that participants did not expect. That moment made an already strong event truly memorable.

We’d like to thank Confluent for carving out time in a packed week to give back. We’d also like to thank Mizpah Brown-Rich and the Joshua’s Gift team for the work they do for kids and families every day.
