Duke CE and KFAS Leaders Unite for Build-A-Bike® Event in Durham, North Carolina
The Build-A-Bike® event was strategically integrated into the “Leading Others” module, providing a practical application of leadership principles. The international participants from KFAS brought high levels of engagement and competitive spirit to the challenge, demonstrating how leadership concepts translate across cultural boundaries. The hands-on nature of the event allowed participants to move beyond theoretical frameworks into practical application of their leadership skills.
The activity perfectly aligned with Duke CE’s philosophy that leaders need to understand context and systemic interactions. As participants worked together to assemble bicycles, they experienced firsthand the importance of clear communication, team dynamics, and adaptive leadership—core concepts that Duke CE emphasizes in their programs. The success of the event was so apparent that Duke CE plans to incorporate Build-A-Bike® into future client training programs, recognizing its value in bringing leadership principles to life. The completed bicycles were donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Wake County, demonstrating how effective leadership can create positive impact in local communities, even through international collaboration.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Duke Corporate Education and their KFAS participants for their enthusiastic engagement in this leadership development activity. Special thanks to the Boys & Girls Club of Wake County for their partnership in creating meaningful community impact.
