OpenWorks Team Kicks Off Summit With Build-A-Bike® Bike Building Activity in Phoenix, Arizona
The session began with a brief icebreaker that helped participants get oriented with their teams. After that, groups worked through a series of structured clues to earn their bike components. Each challenge required clear communication and practical problem solving. Teams moved at their own pace while keeping an eye on the overall objective.
Once teams secured all necessary parts, they began assembling the bicycles. Members organized materials, followed instructions, and checked each step carefully. The build required coordination and shared responsibility. By the end of the activity, the group had established a solid working rhythm to carry into the rest of the summit.
At the conclusion, the completed bicycles were donated to Valley of the Sun YMCA. Their team members were wonderful partners and graciously accepted the donation. The moment reminded everyone that their teamwork extended beyond the summit walls. The group left knowing they had already made a difference on day one.
We extend a sincere thank you to OpenWorks for giving back to the Phoenix community. We also thank the Valley of the Sun YMCA for the incredible work they do for local families.
