Precision Metalforming Association Build-A-Bike® Event in Tampa, FL

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) participated in a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event in Tampa, FL. With 32 mid-level managers gathered at the AC Hotel Tampa Airport, the activity formed a key component of their three-day training program. The event created opportunities for participants to network, strengthen bonds, and contribute to the local community. All through a meaningful charitable initiative! The managers thoroughly enjoyed the experience while assembling bicycles that would be donated to the Young Gentlemen’s Academy. All in all, adding purpose and impact to their professional development program.

PMA is the full-service trade association representing North America’s $137-billion metalforming industry. A sector that creates precision metal products using technologies such as metal stamping, fabricating, spinning, slide forming, and roll forming, along with other value-added processes. With more than 900 member companies, including equipment suppliers, materials providers, and service organizations, PMA drives innovative member companies toward superior competitiveness and profitability. The association accomplishes this through advocacy, networking, statistical resources, the PMA Educational Foundation, tradeshows, and MetalForming magazine.

The Build-A-Bike® event provided a welcome interactive component to PMA’s comprehensive training program for mid-level managers. Hosted at the modern AC Hotel Tampa Airport, the activity created an environment where participants could apply leadership skills. All while developing stronger interpersonal connections outside the traditional learning setting. The event successfully blended professional development with community service, embodying PMA’s commitment to both industry advancement and social responsibility.

During the event, the 32 managers enthusiastically engaged in the bicycle-building challenge, working in teams to complete their assigned builds. The activity generated high energy and camaraderie as participants collaborated to solve problems and assemble the bicycles correctly. This hands-on experience complemented the more structured training components of their three-day program, allowing managers to practice communication, leadership, and teamwork in a relaxed yet purposeful setting. Their collective efforts resulted in completed bicycles that would support the Young Gentlemen’s Academy, a local organization focused on youth development. The event not only strengthened connections among PMA’s diverse membership but also demonstrated the metalforming industry’s commitment to giving back to communities where they operate.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Precision Metalforming Association for their generous bicycle donation benefiting young people through the Young Gentlemen’s Academy. We also thank the Academy for their dedicated work in supporting youth development in the Tampa community.
