The Rescue Bear® event served as both a leadership development opportunity and a charitable endeavor for the student success counselors of The Evergreen State College. The event was held off-campus at the scenic Harbor House. They kicked off the day with workshops aimed at fostering trust and improving communication. These sessions provided a foundation for deeper collaboration, helping the group of six to bond and enhance their professional relationships.
After a productive morning, the team turned their attention to the charity portion of the event. In total, they assembled 15 stuffed bears. They then donated them to the Monarch Children’s Justice and Advocacy Center, an organization that supports children experiencing trauma. Additionally, the counselors took great care in stuffing the animals, knowing they’d provide comfort to children facing difficulties.

The day’s activities not only bolstered their leadership skills but also reinforced their commitment to supporting the well-being of others—both within the college and in the wider community.
We thank The Evergreen State College for their contribution, and we extend our appreciation to the Monarch Children’s Justice and Advocacy Center for their invaluable work with children.
