Mortenson Holds 2 Build-A-Bike® Corporate Events in Minneapolis

Mortenson gathered for two large Build-A-Bike® corporate team building events in Minneapolis, MN. Both activities took place on the same day and brought together nearly 200 participants across two locations. One event took place inside Club Purple at U.S. Bank Stadium, while the second happened at The Depot – Renaissance Hotel Convention Center. Across both experiences, employees combined collaboration, competition, and community impact to build 22 bicycles for local youth organizations. The events reflected Mortenson’s energetic culture while supporting meaningful causes throughout the Minneapolis community.

Mortenson Employees Bring Energy and Competition to U.S. Bank Stadium

Mortenson kicked off the first Build-A-Bike® event inside Club Purple at U.S. Bank Stadium. The setting immediately created excitement with views overlooking downtown Minneapolis on one side and the Minnesota Vikings stadium on the other. Around 70 participants filled the room with energy from the very beginning, including many returning players who already understood the competitive rhythm of the activity. Teams jumped into challenges quickly, calling out answers and pushing one another to move faster as the event unfolded.

The atmosphere balanced organized chaos with strong teamwork throughout the afternoon. Despite the competitive edge, the event stayed lighthearted and focused as teams worked together to complete the bicycles. By the end of the activity, the group successfully assembled 10 bikes for Minneapolis Public Schools. The bikes will help students from Sullivan School gain access to a major city-wide youth event. The donation created a direct opportunity for local children to participate in experiences they may not otherwise have access to. The charity partners were incredibly reliable and supportive throughout the event, helping create a smooth and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Mortenson Teams Create Another Memorable One of Their Build-A-Bike® Corporate Events at The Depot in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Later that same day, Mortenson brought another massive group together at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel Convention Center. Roughly 120 participants packed into the room for the second Build-A-Bike® event. Since this marked the sixth event with the group, there was already a strong sense of familiarity and excitement among returning participants. About 40% of the attendees had participated before, which immediately raised the competitive level in the room.

Even with the packed setup, teams adapted quickly and got to work without hesitation. The room buzzed with nonstop movement as participants carved out workspace and tackled the challenges together. One unforgettable moment came when Team #6 delivered what may have been the shortest team cheer ever performed. Their entire cheer consisted of one perfectly coordinated clap, which instantly won over the judges and brought plenty of laughs to the room. Throughout the event, the teams embraced the fast pace while keeping the atmosphere collaborative and fun. The event wrapped up exactly on schedule with 12 completed bicycles ready for donation.

Those bicycles went to ACES for Kids, where they will serve as grand prizes for students striving toward academic excellence. The bikes will help reward and encourage local youth who work hard in school and stay committed to their educational goals. Jazmin and the team from the organization once again helped make the donation process seamless and impactful for everyone involved.

We give a huge thank you to Mortenson for supporting local youth through two incredible Build-A-Bike® events in Minneapolis. We would also like to thank Minneapolis Public Schools and ACES for Kids for the meaningful work they continue to do throughout the community.
