Marriott International gathered for a bike building charity team building event in Chevy Chase, MD. The bi-annual meeting brought together 120 participants at The Women’s Club of Chevy Chase. During the event, five smaller teams worked toward becoming one larger and more cohesive group. The activity gave employees an engaging way to connect while supporting children in the local community through bike donations.
Marriott International is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, and operates nearly 9,900 properties across more than 30 hotel brands in 146 countries and territories. The company traces its roots back to a root beer stand opened in Washington, D.C., by J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott in 1927. Marriott International Employees Unite During Bike Building Team Event in Chevy Chase, Maryland
The Build-A-Bike® created an energetic atmosphere as participants worked together to strengthen connections across the larger organization. Since the meeting combined five smaller teams into one unified group, the activity encouraged employees to collaborate with coworkers outside their immediate circles. Teams competed in interactive challenges while earning bike parts through communication and problem-solving activities. As the event continued, employees became more comfortable working together and cheering each other on.
The excitement grew as teams completed their bicycles and prepared for the final presentation. Representatives from the The Y of Maryland arrived just as the group was setting up for the Ta-Dah photo, creating a memorable ending to the event. Despite a few communication challenges earlier in the day, the charity representatives arrived ready to accept the donation and spoke eloquently to the group. The donated bikes will help provide children with recreation, transportation, and opportunities to stay active within their communities. The experience left participants feeling connected through a shared accomplishment and meaningful cause.
