Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease Build-A-Bike® Event in Charlotte, North Carolina

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease organized a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event in Charlotte, NC, facilitated by TLI. They held the event at the Renaissance Charlotte SouthPark. All in all, it was a highlight of their 2.5-day meeting for the Country Operations Management (COM) department. This meeting aimed to foster growth and collaboration among team members who manage clinical trials for rare disease patients across the United States. At the end, the event featured a special collaboration with the YMCA of Charlotte.

Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease brings team together for Build-A-Bike® event in Charlotte, North Carolina

The event provided a crucial opportunity for the Alexion COM team to enhance their communication skills. Thus, leading to a chance to build a positive team culture. This event was particularly significant as the team was navigating a period of organizational change. The team, which included the Regional Senior Director, four US Directors, and two other managers, came together to develop processes, support growth, and foster collaboration.

Throughout the event, participants were divided into teams and raced to assemble bicycles. They then donated the bikes to children from the YMCA of Charlotte. This activity not only promoted teamwork and problem-solving, however. It also brought the team closer together as they worked towards a common goal. The emotional climax of the event came when the children from the YMCA arrived to receive their bikes. It brought many team members to tears and underscored the impact of their efforts.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease for their generous donation and to the YMCA of Charlotte for their invaluable work in supporting the community.

We are excited to release three new charity team building events based on the Build-A-Bike ® program:
