Gilead Sciences, Inc. hosted a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event at their headquarters in Foster City, CA. They brought together the Commercial Leadership and Development team for this event. Not only did it foster teamwork and leadership skills, but it also supported the local Redwood City PAL Activity Center. Thus, reflecting the company’s commitment to community and inclusivity.

Gilead Sciences team supports community through Build-A-Bike® in Foster City, California
The Build-A-Bike® event was a highlight of a three-day meeting aimed at enhancing values, inclusion, behaviors, and engagement (VIBE) among Gilead’s Commercial Leadership and Development team. The activity provided an excellent opportunity for team members to apply these themes practically as they worked together to assemble bicycles. This hands-on project was not only a team-building exercise, however. It also was a reflection of Gilead’s core values in action, fostering a stronger, more inclusive workplace culture.
The bikes assembled during the event were donated to the Redwood City PAL Activity Center. This organization is dedicated to providing safe and supportive environments for youth engagement in the community. In addition to the bicycles, the Gilead team added a personal touch by decorating the bikes and providing ice cream for the children receiving the bikes. This act of kindness was a tangible expression of Gilead’s broader mission to create a healthier and more inclusive world.
