Miami University Rescue Bear® Event in Hamilton, OH
Miami University’s Department of Nursing participated in a Rescue Bear® charity team building event in Hamilton, Ohio. The event took place on the morning of April 25, 2025, and brought together 38 nursing students and faculty members. Spanning from 8:30 a.m. until noon, the event combined team building with a meaningful cause, donating comfort bears to children who have experienced trauma. The group embraced both the collaborative challenges and the community impact of the day.
Founded in 1809, Miami University is a public research university located in Oxford, Ohio. Miami University nursing students bond through Rescue Bear® event in Hamilton, Ohio
Hosted by Miami University’s Department of Nursing, this Rescue Bear® event was part of a larger effort to strengthen team culture within the program. Beginning early in the morning, the session offered hands-on collaboration as students formed teams and engaged in creative problem-solving activities. These challenges not only highlighted the participants’ leadership and communication skills but also encouraged peer connection in a fun, energetic environment. The nursing students responded enthusiastically to the team culture portion, fully participating in the interactive elements of the workshop.
During the Rescue Bear® portion of the event, teams earned stuffed bear parts by successfully completing team tasks. Once assembled, the bears were donated to children who have faced trauma, adding a deeper sense of purpose to the morning’s activities. The Miami University group showed remarkable teamwork and compassion, with their energy and cooperation resulting in a successful and rewarding event. Their efforts ensured that children in need would receive a tangible token of comfort and care.
