The Build-A-Bike® event at Meta in New York was not just about assembling bicycles. It was also about dismantling silos within the Data Protection Team. The team, comprising newer members who joined during the pandemic, had limited opportunities to interact in person. The Build-A-Bike® event was planned to end the offsite meeting on a high note. All in all, it helped create a fun opportunity for employees to collaborate beyond their professional roles.
To break the ‘silo mentality’ and reaffirm the mantra of ‘One Team, One Dream,’ the team successfully worked together to assemble bikes. They then donated these bikes to Operation Exodus, a charity dedicated to impacting the lives of young people. This act of giving back to the community not only served as a morale booster but also underscored Meta’s ethos of ‘Fun with Purpose’ and ‘Bringing People Together.’
